Introduction
Long-TermEvolution(LTE)hasrapidlybecomeawidelyusedcellularcommunicationstandard.TheInternetofThings(IoT)andtheincreasingdemandforhigh-speeddatatransmissionhaveledtothedevelopmentofLTE'sdownlinkchannel,knownasLTE(DL).LTE(DL)performskeyfunctionsrelatingtoscheduling,modulationandcoding,channelstateinformation,andclosedlooptransmitdiversity.Inthispaper,wewillstudythecharacteristicsofLTE(DL)comp,includingitskeyperformanceindicatorsandhowtheyareoptimizedtoimproveperformance.
KeyPerformanceIndicators
Thekeyperformanceindicators(KPIs)forLTE(DL)compincludethroughput,latency,spectralefficiency,andcoverage.Throughputreferstotheamountofdatathatcanbetransmittedinasinglesecondbetweenthebasestationandtheuserequipment(UE).Latencyreferstothetimedelayexperiencedindatatransmission,fromstarttofinish.Spectralefficiencyreferstotheamountofdatathatcanbetransmittedthroughacertainamountoffrequencyspectrum.Coveragereferstotherangeofthebasestation'ssignal.
OptimizationTechniques
LTE(DL)compoptimizationtechniquesareemployedtoimprovenetworkperformance,whichcanencompassmanyfactors.Thesetechniquesincludepowercontrol,modulationandcodingschemes,schedulingalgorithms,andchannelstateinformation(CSI)feedbackmechanisms.
PowerControl
Powercontroliscriticaltoensurethatthesignalistransmittedatanappropriatepowerlevel.Itisemployedtomaximizespectralefficiencyandminimizeinterferencetoneighboringcells.Powercontrolcanbeopen-looporclosed-loop.Open-looppowercontrolenablestheUEtoadjustthetransmissionpower,whileclosed-looppowercontrolrequiresfeedbackfromthebasestation.
ModulationandCodingSchemes
