Thepropercontrolofsoilpressureduringtunnelingoperationsiscrucialtoensurethestabilityandsafetyofundergroundstructures.Thisresearchaimstoinvestigatethecontrolofsoilpressurewithinthesealedchamberofanearthpressurebalance(EPB)shieldtunnelingmachine.Thestudyfocusesonunderstandingthefactorsinfluencingsoilpressureandproposingeffectivemeasurestooptimizethesoilpressurecontrol.
1.Introduction

Tunnelingoperationsareessentialfortheconstructionofundergroundinfrastructures.TheEPBshieldtunnelingmachinehasbeenwidelyusedduetoitsabilitytoexcavateinsoftgroundconditions.OnecriticalaspectofEPBtunnelingismaintainingpropersoilpressureinthesealedchamberduringexcavationtopreventgroundsettlementandpotentialstructuraldamage.

2.1SoilPressureinEPBShieldTunneling
Thissectionprovidesanoverviewofthefactorsthatinfluencesoilpressureinthesealedchamber,includingsoilproperties,excavationparameters,andtheinteractionbetweenthetunnelliningandthesoil.Italsodiscussestheexistingmethodsandtechniquesusedtocontrolsoilpressureandtheirlimitations.
3.Methodology
3.1ExperimentalSetup
Thisstudyadoptsacombinationofexperimentalandnumericalanalysismethods.Ascaled-downmodelofanEPBshieldtunnelingmachinewillbeusedtosimulatetheexcavationprocess.Soilpressuresensorswillbeinstalledinthesealedchambertomeasurethevariationsinsoilpressureduringtunneling.
