Abstract:
Hydrologicalforecastingplaysacrucialroleinwaterresourcesmanagement,floodcontrol,anddisasterprevention.Theaccuratepredictionofprecipitationisacriticalcomponentofhydrologicalforecastmodels.Inrecentyears,theTIGGE(TheTHORPEXInteractiveGrandGlobalEnsemble)precipitation-ensemblecoupledXin'anjiangmodelhasemergedasapromisingapproachtoimproveprecipitationforecastingaccuracy.ThispaperaimstoexploretheapplicationoftheTIGGEprecipitation-ensemblecoupledXin'anjiangmodelinhydrologicalforecastingandassessitspotentialbenefits.
1.Introduction:
1.1Backgroundandsignificance:
Waterresourcesmanagementrequiresaccuratehydrologicalforecasts,includingprecipitationprediction.TheTIGGEprecipitation-ensemblecoupledXin'anjiangmodelrepresentsanovelapproachthatcombinesensembleforecastingtechniqueswiththeXin'anjiangmodelframework.Thismodelholdssignificantpotentialforimprovingtheaccuracyofhydrologicalforecasts.
1.2Objective:
ThispaperaimstodiscusstheapplicationoftheTIGGEprecipitation-ensemblecoupledXin'anjiangmodelinhydrologicalforecastingandassessitsefficacycomparedtotraditionalapproaches.
2.Methodology:

TheTIGGEmodelcombinestheprecipitationforecastsgeneratedbymultipleglobalnumericalweatherprediction(NWP)modelsintoanensembleforecast.TheXin'anjiangmodel,adistributedhydrologicalmodeldevelopedinChina,isthencoupledwiththeTIGGEensembleforecasttoperformhydrologicalforecasting.
