Abstract:
MobileAdhocNetworks(MANETs)areautonomousandself-configurednetworkswithadynamictopology,makingthemvulnerabletovarioussecuritythreats.Oneapproachtoaddressthesesecurityconcernsisbyusingcertifiedsecureroutingprotocols.Inthispaper,weanalyzetheefficiencyandeffectivenessofacertifiedsecureOn-DemandDistanceVector(AODV)routingprotocolforMANETs.Wehighlighttheadvantagesofthisprotocol,itskeyfeatures,andthemechanismsitemploystoenhancesecurity.Additionally,wediscussitslimitationsandpresentpotentialfutureresearchdirectionstoovercomethem.
Introduction:
MobileAdhocNetworks(MANETs)consistofacollectionofmobiledevicesthatcommunicatewithouttheneedforafixedinfrastructure.Duetotheirdynamicnature,MANETsaresusceptibletovarioussecuritythreatssuchasmaliciousnodes,routingattacks,andeavesdropping.Toaddresstheseconcerns,thedevelopmentofsecureroutingprotocolshasgainedsignificantattention.
TheOn-DemandDistanceVector(AODV)routingprotocoliswidelyusedinMANETsduetoitsefficiencyincreatingrouteson-demandanditsabilitytohandledynamicnetworktopologies.ToenhancethesecurityofAODV,acertifiedsecureextensionhasbeenproposed,whichguaranteestheauthenticityandintegrityofroutinginformation.
AdvantagesofCertifiedSecureAODV:
1.Authentication:ThecertifiedsecureAODVprotocolprovidesamechanismforauthenticatingtheroutinginformationexchangedbetweennodes.Thisenhancesthetrustworthinessofthereceivedroutingupdates,preventingmaliciousnodesfrominjectingfalseinformationintothenetwork.
2.IntegrityProtection:Theprotocolensurestheintegrityofroutinginformationthroughtheuseofdigitalsignatures.Thispreventsanytamperingwithroutingupdatesandensuresthatonlyauthorizednodescanmodifytheroutingtableentries.
3.RevocationMechanism:AcertificationauthorityistypicallyemployedinthecertifiedsecureAODVprotocoltoissueandrevokecertificates.Thisallowsforthedetectionandremovalofcompromisedormaliciousnodesfromthenetwork,preventingthemfromparticipat
