Abstract


Theincreasingimpactofclimatechangeisputtingenergysecurityatriskin
SoutheastAsia.Heatwaves,floods,droughts,tropicalcyclonesandrisesinsea
levelsposechallengestotheenergysystem,affectingeverythingfromfuel
extractiontoelectricitydistribution.Hightemperaturesimpairthefunctionalityof
solarPVandnaturalgas-firedpowerplants,whileheavyrainfallandflooding
disruptcoalandmineralminingoperations.Increasinglyintensetropicalcyclones
endangerenergyinfrastructure,especiallyincoastalandcyclone-proneareas.A
climate-resilientenergysystemisneededtoovercometheseissues.Thisreport
providesacomprehensiveoverviewofclimatehazardsandtheirimpactsonthe
energysectoruntiltheendofthe21stcentury.Italsoidentifieseffectivemeasures
